Continuing her I Am tour in Atlanta, Georgia, superstar Beyoncé pays tribute to her idol, the late Michael Jackson.
Closing the singer's set on Wednesday night (July 1), the music during the 27-year-old's “Halo” performance suddenly paused, and the screen displayed a home movie taken of Beyoncé at just 5-years-old, chattering about attending a Michael Jackson show later that night.
Knowles then said, “That night I saw my hero perform for the first time. When I left the show, I said mommy, I wanna be just like him. We miss you, we love you, and we thank you for all the memories, Michael Jackson.” An iconic photo of Jackson in profile appeared on the screen as the music resumed and Beyoncé poured out a new chorus to the song, sinking to her knees and singing, “Michael I can see your halo, I pray it won't fade away.”
This was incredibly moving.
